What should you measure?
Measure the finger that will wear the ring, rather than assuming a size from another finger or hand. Bring the proposed design to the appointment so the jeweller can consider the shape and width of its band. A GIA guide to finger and ring sizing highlights the need for appropriate tools and attention to different ring constructions.
Tell the jeweller if a ring tends to rotate, feels tight over the knuckle or changes noticeably in comfort during the day. These observations are useful alongside a measurement.
Why can two rings with the same size feel different?
Band width and the interior shape affect how a ring sits on a finger. A narrow solitaire, a broad signet and a multi-band stack are different fitting situations. Ask to try a comparable band or sizing ring rather than selecting a size from the appearance of the product photograph.
For a stacking design, discuss the complete arrangement you intend to wear. Measuring for one fine ring does not confirm the comfort of several bands together.
Can you use string, a printable chart or an existing ring?
Use home methods as estimates to discuss with the atelier. A stretched string, an incorrectly scaled printout or a measurement taken across the outside of a ring can produce a misleading result. An existing ring is useful only if you know it fits the intended finger comfortably.
If you provide a measurement, explain how it was taken. Do not send a bare number without the unit or sizing system. UK letters, US numbers and millimetre measurements should not be mixed without checking the conversion.
What if the ring is a surprise?
Ask the atelier about the design’s sizing requirements and any resizing options before ordering. Some stone arrangements and personalised details may limit later alterations; do not assume every ring can be resized in the same way.
If you can borrow a suitable ring, identify the finger and hand on which it is worn. If you cannot establish a reliable size, discuss a consultation or another proposal approach rather than choosing an average size as a guarantee.
For the Pet Lover rings for Furmom, the order form asks for a UK ring size. Confirm it before submitting your personalised order.
Common questions
Should I use my usual size for a wide band?
Check the fit for the actual band width and interior shape with a jeweller. Your usual narrow-ring size is a useful reference, not a final answer.
Are UK and US ring sizes the same?
No. State which system you are using and ask the atelier to confirm any conversion.
Can the atelier help before I order?
Contact Victoria Diamonds with the design name and your sizing question. Confirm the size and any alteration arrangements before payment.
